Mistress of the Leaskdale Manse, 1911 to 1926: The Life of L.M. Montgomery as Mrs. Ewan Macdonald is a book by Kathy Wasylenky that was published by Stones Throw Publications in May 2025. Wasylenky served as a former president of the Lucy Maud Montgomery Society of Ontario (LMMSO).
According to an article in The Uxbridge Cosmos about the book and its launch event, Wasylenky spent two years researching L.M. Montgomery's life in Leaskdale to write her book. The book examines L.M. Montgomery's experiences as "mistress of the Manse" in the first years of her married life and as a member of the Leaskdale community. During her 15 years in Leaskdale, L.M. Montgomery became a mother, joined the Red Cross during WWI, and was as a member of the town's "dry" committee. The book discusses both the joys of L.M. Montgomery's years in Leaskdale and the tragedies she experienced, including the death of her third son, Hugh.
